Parents: Sadira's father is Bren Varrin, a farmer from a village near Ostwick. Although he doesn't own the lands, he tends to them and cares for them as best he can. As a youth, he had the potential for joining the Templar order Because of his father, Bren turned away from the Templar life not wishing to loose himself as his father had. Personality wise, Bren is a very taciturn, usually keeping his emotions close to his heart. He is compassionate, but rarely lets it show because that was how he was raised.

Despite not wanting to be a Templar, he is very devout and supports the Chantry. Due to his father's connections, Bren has a number of contacts in the templar Order and with the Chantry. He used those contacts to gain favor for Sadira in the hopes that she might one day enter the Chantry and one day become a lay sister or even a Mother.

Sadira's mother is Beatrice Eridani. She grew up  travelling often between Rivain and Ostwick because her parents were wealthy merchants who had businesses in both countries. Her mother ran the businesses in Rivain with their Beatrice's elder sister Stacia. While her father oversaw their family's Free Marches business in Ostwick. Beatrice was meant to follow in her father's footsteps and manage the Ostwick businesses for her sister, but she was repulsed by the idea of being the 'lesser sister' and so looked for ways to change her life. Beatrice met Bren at the Grand Tourney and soon fell in love. She cut her ties with her family and ran off to live a simple life with Bren.

Beatrice naturally is the more loving and open parent. She taught Sadira what she could of Rivani culture and encouraged her daughter towards the Chantry, thinking that Sadira might one day rise in prominence. Sadira's magic comes from her mother's bloodline as her grandmother was a seer. It is unclear if there is any magic in her father's bloodline.

Mage questions

When did your mage’s magic first manifest? 8 years old
Did they try to keep it a secret from their family/close friends? There was no keeping it a secret. She caused a bolt of lighting to strike a field in anger in front of witnesses.
Has their magic ever hurt anyone by mistake? Almost. Due to her lack of skill and aim, the lightning bolt missed her target which was a boy from the next farm over. He had been teasing her about how poor her family was, and she lost her temper.
Which spells came naturally and which were more difficult to learn? Storm magic comes easiest to her. And healing magic is the hardest.
What is their favourite spell? None. She doesn't like using her magic unless she has to.
Do they put a lot of time into studying magic? She has in the hopes of mastering her fear of magic. She is also studying to become a Knight-Enchanter.
What attracted them to their specialization? Her desire for control over herself and her magic. Knight-Enchanters embody command and control which is what Sadira wants most in life.
How does your mage get along with other mages? Depends on the mage. Sadira is very pro-Circle so she tends not to get along as well with people who spout free mage beliefs.
Does your mage have any sympathy for Templars? Not so much sympathy but understanding. Templars are justified in their actions to a point, but like anyone else need to be held accountable for their actions. Just the same as mages.
Do they consider magic a blessing or a curse? Definitely a curse. As a child her, nightly chant was to beg Andraste to take her magic from her.

Religion:
Sadira is Andrastian. She believes the church rhetoric about magic existing to serve man and not rule over him, and that Andraste was the Bride of the Maker, and of course the Maker. She believes the Templars serve and protects and that the circles are needed (Perhaps with less killing and tranquil and with more relaxed rules about coming and going/family/etc). She also has the unique perspective given to her by her mother who taught her little bits about Rivani culture and spirits. It wasn't much, but it did color Sadira's perceptions slightly on the nature of souls and spirits which leaves her open to musing about it.
